SUMMER 2016

How to describe this summer . . . .

Crazy - Hard - Blessed - Full - 5,653 miles

As this summer draws to a close, I'm thinking back on the last 3 months, and frankly it's a lot to think about.  Since we don't live near any of our family, we spend our summers in our mini van.  But despite the seemingly constant tumult of packing & unpacking, life happened.  Laughter and tears, worries and hopes, smiles and sleepless nights, victories and setbacks, doubt and peace.  It all happened.  And I'm grateful for God's hand in it all.

Here's my best go at trying to keep just a few of my memories.

We kicked of summer with an unplanned school room remodel.  When we got my new treadmill and moved furniture around a bit, we noticed the carpet was wet - but had no idea why.  Unable to locate the source of the water, we cut a whole in the wall and found a pipe that was trying it's best to become an indoor water fountain.  My incredibly handy, smart, and talented husband rigged up a system to catch the water.

Once we got the leak taken care of, we began the process of dealing with the water damage.  Again, my husband's handyman skills were awesome.

In the end, we opted to replace the carpet.

I can totally see the silver lining on this unplanned little storm cloud.  The upheaval of the furniture in this room, allowed me to reevaluate the layout.  I LOVE the new set up we have.  And the bright blue gives the whole room a face-lift.

As we slowly worked on this renovation, the girls finished up their spring activities.
Last year we decided to give the twins an opportunity to be separate individuals for a bit.  They did great and we did separate activities this year as well.
Miss KRae decided to do Girls On The Run this spring.  She would go to running practice twice a week a the local elementary school.  Then at the end of the season, all the girls did a 5K together.  Each girl got to have someone run the race with them.  It was a fun morning for KRae and I.  We did the traditional sparkly calve tattoo for race day.  We also got a picture of her dancing with her friends, a picture of her with her coaches, and a picture of her and I.  (She won those pink arm sleeves in a raffle drawing at the race!)

EMae and I have been taking a yoga class together.  Once upon a time, I didn't have the patience for yoga.  Too much holding still.  But I have come to really enjoy it.  I enjoy the good stretch if gives my sore runner's muscles.  I enjoy the physical challenge.  And I enjoy time with E Mae.

Shortcake got to take her first dance class this spring.  She had fun and all, but by far her favorite part was her recital costume at the end of the season.  She LOVES all things "Fancy" and is more than happy to strike a pose for the camera.

Amid the hubbub of all those activities and all our trips, a lot of simple everyday life happened too.

Looks like a great summer to me.  But I've only just skimmed the surface.  I've still got pictures and memories from Girls Scout Camp, 4th of July, a camping trip to Canada, a trip to Utah, and a trip to Northern Idaho!  "Stay tuned!"
