Terracotta In Seattle

It's A LOT of work, but I really do like homeschooling my girls.  When the twins were in younger, one of the things we studied was the Terracotta Army.  I realized that deep down inside I am a History nerd.  It was so fascinating.  But since the Terracotta Army is located in China, a book and some documentaries had to suffice. 

But this year, the Terracotta Army came to Seattle.  Since my love knew how much it interested me, he said we should make a special outing of it and go see it.  Life being crazy full like it is for us, we went on the LAST day possible before the exhibit left Seattle.  It was a really nice outing for our family. 

I was really hoping you could buy shoes like this in the gift shop . . . alas, you couldn't.  We had to settle for a magnet.

I didn't take nearly enough pictures.  But one of the fun parts was a room you could walk into that was staged to look like the soldiers did in the pits.

Eclipse 2017!

I did not think an eclipse was reason enough to take a family of 7 on ANOTHER 15+ hour car ride.  But my love did.  He really wanted to go.  He supports me in so many things that I want to do.  So we went.  I will totally admit, I'm glad we did.  It was cool.  It was really fun memories. 

You had to wear special glasses so as not to go blind.  With little ones, this leaves big concern for their abilities to keep the glasses in a safe position.  So we made these shnazy  . . . . I don't know what to call them.  Originally they were for the kids, but all the grown ups ended up wanting them too.  :)

If you're gonna drive 15 hours, than you make good use of the trip.  We try to squeeze in as much fun family and friends as possible.  One of our stops was a trip to the ARTitorium to visit with my High School best friend.
